Holocaust Survivors Retirement Homes

The need for elderly care homes became evident while meeting with various Holocaust Survivor Associations and survivors themselves. Many elderly survivors who have made Alijah from the Former Soviet Union have no families to care for them and are often left destitute. They are unable to care for themselves and the options are bleak. They deserve to live out their days with dignity and receive the help and support they need.

The first home was opened 8 years ago mainly because of one man from the Ukraine, who was left without a place to live due to his circumstances. He is not alone in this state; we soon realized that there were many others in similar situations who were in need of help and assistance.   Helping Hand Coalition homes are mostly for the Holocaust survivors and those who are alone in the land.  The focus of the care homes is primarily the quality of life. Not merely preserving it, but re-creating the simple joys found in day-to-day living.

The operating cost of one home is between $2,500 per month.  Included in this amount is: rent, utilities, taxes, food, some transportation, cooks, house cleaner, gardener, medical insurance, accountant and lawyer.  Each home has between 6 - 8 residents.

These dear people would love a prayer partner, a friend or someone who will sponsor them. The need for more care homes is evident.  These people need your help.

Give from your heart to help Israel's elderly. Give to enrich their lives with pride, self-esteem and dignity.
