Holocaust Survivors Food and Care Packs

As you know, in recent times Israel has suffered an economic crisis which has caused a considerable deterioration in the situation of many Holocaust Survivors and the most vulnerable. They are in a very difficult position involving personal embarrassment and frustration.

It's hard to believe there are still Holocaust survivors living in poverty and going hungry in Israel today. They are now in their 70s and 80s. They eat lunch at soup kitchens and get their clothes from charity. Some have to choose between buying groceries for a decent meal and buying their medications. Some don't have the money for a hearing aid, glasses, or dentures.

There are 260,000 survivors living in Israel today about 80,000 of them live in poverty. It's hard to believe that people know about this, especially those in power, but it still goes on anyway.

Those from the Former Soviet Union tend to be considerably poorer - partly because they began their new life in Israel from nothing.

Helping Hand Coalition is committed to helping disadvantaged holocaust, Ghetto survivors and their families with humanitarian assistance.
